Israeli forces carried out raids in multiple locations across the West Bank, resulting in the deaths of two Palestinians. The raids, including operations in Hebron, Nablus, and Ramallah, were met with resistance, according to reports from the Wafa news agency.
Quoting Palestinian security sources, Wafa stated that the two men died from gunshot wounds inflicted by Israeli forces during the operations.
The Israeli military claimed that the two men attempted to attack soldiers near a village, with one assailant allegedly attempting to stab soldiers before being neutralized. The other assailant reportedly opened fire on the soldiers before also being subdued.
These incidents follow a series of deadly clashes in Nur Shams refugee camp, where at least 14 people were killed over three days of Israeli incursions. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported evacuating 14 fatalities from the camp to the hospital, while the Israeli army claimed to have killed 10 “fighters” during the operation.
According to Al Jazeera’s correspondent, Hamdah Salhut, there were ongoing raids across the West Bank, with Israeli forces focusing on Nablus, Hebron, and Ramallah. The raids resulted in multiple arrests, including four individuals in Hebron.
Tensions have escalated in the occupied West Bank, with Israel intensifying raids since launching its war on Gaza. The recent violence has left hundreds of Palestinians dead, sparking outrage and condemnation from Palestinian officials.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported injuries among civilians during the raids, including a paramedic wounded while attempting to reach the wounded. Additionally, residents of Nur Shams camp faced severe hardships, including power outages and food shortages, as the area remained under siege.
In response to the raids, Tulkarem governor Mustafa Taqatqa called for a strike and a day of public mourning. Despite the challenges faced by Palestinians, officials reaffirmed their determination to resist the occupation and strive for an independent Palestinian state.
